Cherry Red marks 40th anniversary of The Haçienda with 4CD set 'Haçienda 1982'
A 4 disc set celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Haçienda has been announced.
The legendary Manchester nightclub opened its doors May 21st, 1982 and the world was never quite the same. Over the years countless incredible musicians and DJs performed, partied, and raved with fans. Alas, the Haçienda shut down in 1997 but it is considered a cultural landmark and the legacy and spirit lives on.
In honor of the Haçienda's 40th anniversary, Cherry Red Records compiled a 4CD set titled Haçienda 1982 which celebrates the club's first year.
The set features artists that played at the club in 1982 plus some of the anthems that Haçienda DJs played regularly. According to Cherry Red, "each disc is sequenced roughly in the order in which DJs would have played the songs, starting with the more downbeat or adventurous material and eventually building to classic dancefloor fillers."
Along with the incredible music contained in the set, the liner notes include a foreward written by the legendary bass king himself, Peter Hook, who owns the rights to the Haçienda's brand.
